Design Services 101: All the Details to Find the Right Fit for You

If you are reading this, the spaces around you may be failing to give you the feel and function that you want! Shoot, does that sound like the Federal Government?? Or maybe you’ve arrived here to do anything to stop doom-scrolling your news feed! Either way, we’re here to offer you relief– from both scary headlines, or your 90s-era living room can lights!

Like most professional services, you get what you pay for, and attention to detail is the most critical aspect to lasting positive outcomes. We offer our meticulous, professional services at three different offerings, from “Just Do It, and make sure the fridge is stocked with my favorite beverage,” to “Point me in the right direction, and I’ll swing the hammer myself!” In all cases, our top priority is leaving you with a space that suits your needs, and brings joy.

Full Service Design: We Do It All

Full service design includes everything you need to completely revamp your space, be it a full gut renovation, or a custom new build. We want to be one of your first hires, as we will help you navigate the process from start to finish, including matching with the right architect, general contractor, and trades. We work with you to identify the scope of work, set realistic expectations around your timeline and budget, and identify the team needed to complete your project. You expect the best, but don’t have time to do it all yourself, and so you’ve hired the pros to take care of it for you. You also care deeply about quality, have interesting taste and preferences, and want your surroundings to be highly functional and beautiful.

In addition to helping assemble the team, we conceptualize the design of your home, provide all required drawings and documentation, and source and procure all furniture, finishes and decor. We work closely with your architect and contractor, and are on site frequently during construction to ensure the design is implemented as intended and completed on time. We are your advocate throughout the process, and ensure that the outcome is as you intend: meticulous, as envisioned, and jaw-dropping.

This is a white-glove offering with the option to receive move-in ready concierge services and finishing touches, such as professional organizing services and stocking the kitchen pantry to your liking. There’s nothing we won’t do, and this is often a preferred choice for repeat clients, who may live in a different part of the country or want our trusted hands to deliver the outcomes they expect.

This option is best for projects with at least an all-in budget of $400,000.

Lorla Lite: Buy the Eye, Project Management DIY

Lorla Lite offers clients the same breath-taking aesthetic and attention to detail, though without Lorla Studio ensuring execution of the vision by the contractors and trades. This offering is tailored to clients who prefer to prioritize design and merchandise over project management, and is best for projects with minimal construction and smaller scopes of work.

Lorla Lite is different from full service design in that clients are responsible for overseeing work and communication with all trades involved in the project (painters, wallpaper installers, window treatment installers, contractors, and more). We set you up for success by providing all of the documentation and resources that your trades will need to implement our design. Similar to full service design, Lorla Lite includes a site survey (when needed), full design and procurement services, and culminates in a single or multi-day installation. This service is most popular with clients who are mainly seeking furnishings and decor, with minimal changes to the existing footprint.

This option is best for projects with at least an all-in budget of $150,000.

Design Day Service: Rent a Pro!

If you want a beautiful, curated and functional space, but don't have the budget minimums required for our more extensive services, then a Design Day is for you! A Design Day works equally well for clients looking for help furnishing and decorating a few rooms, or for clients seeking assistance selecting finishes and fixtures for a construction project. We send an intake questionnaire, and a list of deliverables that we need from you so that we can get started. The design day kicks off with a virtual meeting to discuss your goals and aesthetic preferences. We then devote an entire day to designing the space of your dreams, helping you select materials, lighting, furniture, and more. At the end of our design day, you walk away with a full design plan conveyed in a PDF. This may include specific product recommendations and links, vendor recommendations, design concept sketches, and furniture layouts. We can source everything from decorative lighting to bathroom finishes, kitchen cabinet paint colors, furniture and more. If the scope of work is extensive, some clients opt for multiple Design Days, and then we hand off the “hammer” for clients to execute.
